With my cameras, unless I've missed something the last few years, you can not record to the computer and camera when shooting tethered, only to the folder you set up on your computer. There are other 3rd party programs out there you can use, but I have no experience, other than what some fellow photographers I know told me about and I did not like what i heard. Maybe others will join in this thread and give you other suggestions and recommendations. If you have Lightroom, try shooting with your camera tethered, if you don't have it, download the software and try it for 30 days. Try some other programs if they have trial periods and see what works best for you. We all shoot different and what works for does not mean it will work for someone else! Nikon camera control pro 2 software free download trial# I suppose if you are doing studio work and want to work from your computer or have others view it as you work it is ok. a long signal boosted USB cable and it works with Lightroom but I don't use it other than as described above because the images go direct to the computer, with nothing saved to view on the camera. I actually prefer the eye-fi cards because they transmit to the computer or tablet and I can shoot raw on my main card & smaller jpg (or full size if wanted) on the eye-fi and that way there is instant backup and I can review them and check the histogram on the camera. Nikon camera control pro 2 software free download full size# I don't like having only the tethered computer's file with no backup. Tethered transfers faster but to me that's its only advantage. I tripped over a tether cord once and just caught the tripod mounted camera in time to prevent that photographer's no claims discount from disappearing. I can't trip over the signal from an eye-fi card. I am wanting to get into tethering but have become very confused by the number of software packages available. I would use this software both to hopefully improve the quality of my photographic sessions and for quick client review. Being cautious, I think I would like the ability to record both to my in camera memory card and to the computer. I shoot Nikon and would appreciate any thoughts and recommendations you can provide. I too use Nikon cameras and have used Lightroom and Nikon's control software, but I recently purchased the CamRanger, which is a wireless tethered solution. (Support for windows and Android are coming very soon according to their website).
